Help WiFi HotSpot not working

beach40

Newbie
I got an S4 and put the Stock Android on it 4.3. I wanted to create a wifi hotspot and I am able to do so. I try to connect with my Laptop or Tablet and it does (I get an IP). I cannot access the internet. Am I missing something?

Thanks

Is the phone connected to the internet by 3G/4G? It has to be.

Otherwise, probably some setting in the hotspot. (You're getting limited access.)

Yes it is connected to LTE. I can surf no problem from the phone. I can get an IP from the phone as well but cannot surf from the connected devices.

Some carriers restrict your ability to tether unless you have a certain data package. Are you sure you have the right data package or an appropriate work around if you don't?

The issue was solved. I had 2 APN settings and when I deleted the APN setting that was not used by the phone to get internet access everything worked fine.

Deleting irrelevant APNs solved the issue on Galaxy A5 2017. This thread is still relevant, 4 years on... :-)
Thanks.
