If you want to use your 3g connection on your computer then the option is in settings under wireless & networks, select "more" then you will see tethering and portable hotspot. I have never been able to use it successfully, so I use a program called barnacle Wi-Fi tether and it works great for me. If you are trying to use your home Wi-Fi connection on your phone "reverse tethering" then you can use the program found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371345 This program works really well too.
