Wifi Hotspot

Hello, I haven't been on here in a long time.. everything looks different. So the question is.. S9.. possible to get wifi hotspot with foxfi or rooting? I know back in the day you had to root.. currently using S5 which foxfi works on without root but it's getting a little frail. I have a new S9 I can switch to but want to keep my hotspot.

Most carriers have a certain allotment for hotspot.

Anyway, from what I can gather, the feature you are asking about was depricated in Android 7.

That is why your old device can still do it.

i think it will also if you have a plan for mobile hotspot......nothing is free anymore.......so if you want free hotspot, then yes you will have to root the phone.

for me i can use the hotspot but it came included with my plan.

I believe this business having to pay extra for a mobile hotspot is a thing with the US carriers, and maybe Three in the UK as well(AF did have some posts about that)

At the moment I have a 40GB a month data plan, and the carrier doesn't care if I use it just on the phone, or via the phone's hotspot to a laptop or other device. Every Android phone I've had in 11 years, I just turn on the hotspot if I want to tether another device.
