Wifi in hotels

When I access a hotel's WiFi they all require authentication through a web page. But when I click on the sign in alert it directs me to a google page displaying an error that it can't display the page. I have to find out the URL for the sign in page and type it into the browser. This doesn't happen on my friend's phones.

How can I fix this.

Thanks.

I'm redirected to Google, even if I type another web site. It seems to work if I open an app that uses the web. Is there a way to stop it from redirecting to Google?

Set the browser(Chrome?) homepage to something other than Google, just for the time you're staying in this hotel.

BTW we had a thread before with same problem and hotel WiFi, for Premier Inn.
