How to make wifi work says it is connected but doesn't work

Welcome to Android Forums. Sorry for the delay in responding to your question.
Try this:
Turn off the router and disconnect from power source.
Go to the WiFi settings on your phone and delete that network. Power off phone.
Wait 5 minutes.
Turn the router back on and let it fully reboot.
Turn the phone back on. When fully rebooted, sign into your network.
