wifi issue

I can connect successfully to my home wifi network, and get full signal strength. It shows in settings as being connected ok, but it cannot access the internet for some reason.
I cannot sync google, access the play store, and the browsers don't connect either.
This is a recent occurrence, all worked a few months ago.
Phone is LG P500 running Android 2.3.3 and no mods or rooting

Any help to solve this greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

P.S. All apps etc. connect just fine using the phones mobile network

Hi and Welcome to the forums! 1st post after 3 years!

Try this

Forget your network on your phone.

Re start your router (power off then on)

Re scan wifi with your phone and enter credentials for your network again.

Im assuming your wifi works with Internet on other devices. .

I agree with Girolez. Forget the network then reconnect again

Thanks for the advice, but it made no difference.

The same sequence of events takes place:-
Searching for network:
Network name comes up:
Ask for passkey:
Enter passkey:
Fetches IP address:
Connects successfully with strong signal:

but still no apps can access the internet.

Our laptop, plus visitors who come here connect via wifi without any issues.

Just to be certain it's not a network routing problem, are any other non-Android devices able to connect to the internet through this router?

By any chance were there any updates pushed to your phone recently? It seems odd that both devices would exhibit the same behavior simultaneously.

You are getting close to the fringe of my knowledge now, so all I can say is that nothing like that was instigated by me or my wife.
Could this happen without our input / knowledge?

If you have apps set to auto-update, it certainly can update without your permission (as you have already given it) but you'd see a notification after the fact.

One other troubleshooting step that would be helpful is to see if either phone can connect to ANY wifi, like a public hotspot as a library or coffee shop. Would that be something you can do? Or, even connect to a neighbors wifi? (with their permission of course.)

We live in a rural area, so no nearby neighbours, but I could go for a drive into town & try McDonalds store wifi in a day or so if it will help.
The setting was for apps to auto update, so that has been remedied.
I'll post the outcome.
