Help Wifi issues

Any one having notification bar icon problems with wifi? I just took my spectrum over to the router and touched it to the router antennas and still only showed 2 bars. Not too concerned, just curious. I do also have ping issues. (I know that speed test dot net is not a valid measure of bandwidth, but they cannot fake the ping).

Home wifi, my computer pings between 4ms and 15ms every test. And fairly stable down and up, around 14MB down and 12.8MB up on 802.11n 2.4Ghz.

This is what I get from my spectrum for the last 24 hours though.

lol I get similar results and I'm on a 25mb/5mb connection. Here's some things to remember:

- Those tests are burst tests. They take a single file and max out a connection, which is why they're variable and NOT constant speeds.
- 4g does awesome with burst testing, cable internet/FiOS does not (it's meant to be more constant and reliable)
- Your phone was designed to work optimally with the radio, not wifi.

I laughed when I got my phone home and got 4mb down, 20 mb up on my wifi, but my PC does the opposite AND the 4g test did 19mb down and 6mb up. Definitely not an issue with your phone... you won't notice any performance issues. I regularly use wifi for FTP and downloads and get speeds that exceed my 4g connection, so take those results with a grain of salt.

I have had some WiFi issues with mine, too. I have FiOS and it will connect no problem. If I go on the browser right away, it works. But, if I close the browser, set the phone down, then go back in say ten minutes later, it doesn't work. It will still have the WiFi icon on the status bar, and it says it's connected, but when I open the browser it will give me the "No Internet Connection, Please Try Again" screen. Very Strange.

I haven't really been too concerned about it since the 4G is silly-fast in my area, but it does make me wonder what the problem is.

Edit: Hmmm... resetting my FiOS router seems to have fixed my issue.

GO under advanced settings for wifi and check what your sleep policy is set to. By default, it turns off/dies after the screen turns off. Set it to 'never' and you'll find it should remain on.
