Help Wifi Issues

Hi. I have a Nexus 5 (5.0.1 lollipop) that will not use my home wifi. If I am down at the local swimming pool everything works fine but not on the Broadcom or D-Link (DSL-G604T) modems. I am running 5.0.1 and my daughter's running 5.0 and she cannot connect either. My daughter was able to connect the other day but now suddenly nothing connects.

Mobile data works for me but as soon as I connect to the wifi I get an exclamation mark on wifi and on mobile data. The phone connects to the wifi but if I try to go to a page it says "You are Offline" (event though I have a wifi and data connections).

If have tried playing with the wifi setting (different ssids, changing from AES to TKIP+AES, 2.4 ghz) but with no luck. The Nexus 7 running 4.4.4 works fine (but the Nexus 7 running 5.0.1 doesn't) and the Apple devices also work fine. I have restarted the modems multiple times and tried static ip addresses.

I have set the 4.4.4 Nexus 7 as a hotspot. The Nexus 5 will connect and I can load a page but after that it no longer works.

Is anyone able to help?
Thanks

Set encryption to WPA2. Reboot the modem. Then before trying to connect with the Nexus 5 again, have it 'forget' the old connection. Might work.

This is just a simple solution but has worked for me before.
Have you tried going into Wi-Fi settings and clicking on the Wi-Fi network and then choosing to "Forget Network" and then reboot the phone and/or try resetting the modem. After that then try reestablishing a connection to the Wi-Fi network(s) in question?

Is your device rooted?

When I do that I can connect over mobile data but not over wifi (when mobile data is turned off)

No my device is not rooted.

Hmm that's interesting! Typically when you're device connects to Wi-Fi, the cellular data signal is reduced to a lower state of signal/reception and vise a versa for Wi-Fi.

Is your bootloader unlocked?

Yes I think it is. I installed one of the 4. versions, which I think needs the bootloader unlocked. Apart from that I haven't done anything except install apps.

Have you tried factory reset the routers? Maybe you set some rules to allow certain Mac addresses to connect the router? To tell if your bootloader was unlocked you should see a lockpad that looks unlocked on the google boot logo of your device.

Yes I have factory reset one of the modems. The other was brand new so should have been. The bootloader is unlocked (see message below).

Tried doing a factory reset of the phone and still couldn't connect. Tried to imaging with 5.0.1 and still couldn't connect to wifi. I have now resorted to going back to 4.4.4 until google can fix their OS.
