Help Wifi killed

I plugged in my MXQ kodi box and to my dismay it 'killed' the wifi. I even moved the BT 5 router upstairs, further away, still no joy, switch the box off and wifi returns.
I can find no reference to this anywhere, anybody out there got any suggestions, even the guy that supplied the box is baffled, he even exchanged it, 2nd one just the same...??

The Kodi box has to be radiating a WiFi signal that is stronger than your router, and refusing to link up to it.

Possibly there's something running on the MXQ that the BT 5 Home Hub router is choking on. We did have a TP-Link router crash and freeze, when we had Transmission bittorrent running. As soon as Transmission started, the router would just go dead taking it off-line. And apparently there's some domestic grade routers have difficulty with torrents, I believe it's to do with a limit on how many simaltanious TCP-IP connections certain domestic routers can handle, bittorrent uses lots and basically they get overloaded and crash.

Quite possibly the "fully loaded" MXQ is running some torrent download/upload and/or P2P type service on it. Any chance of you trying another router with it, that isn't the BT one, also check if there's any firmware updates for the Home Hub.

I haven't got another router to try, it's strange, many of my friend have bought these with no issues, perhaps I should get a full loaded fire stick instead. Thanks for your input, I have been changing configuration and channels on the router all morning
