Help WiFi problem

Can anyone help. As off today my S3 has decided not to connect to my home WiFi anymore. It will connect for all off 1 minute or so then just lose all connection. If I go to WiFi in settings my router appears but says "not in range" and I have to enter my password again even though I am 5 feet away from it, there is also 1 tablet, another S3 and a laptop that connect to my WiFi with no problems and receive full strength. What the hell is going on with my S3? I have restarted my router, my S3, pulled the battery out, left it off for 15 minutes and nothing changes.

I would check for an update to the firmware on your WiFi router.

But why is every other device connecting with it bar my S3?

It's just a guess but your phone being updated with it's firmware has a conflict with the older router firmware. It's just a guess also you can always go to Samsung/support/live chat. Have the phones model and HEX number, found under your battery. I have found them very helpful and they are always there ready to try helping. Good Luck solving the problem.:)

Power down the S3, leave off for a minute or two (possibly remove the battery as well). Then see if it will connect.

If that didn't work, I'd try turning off (or at least disconnecting) the other five devices, and then see if the S3 will connect.

Have you installed any apps recently?

Steve

Have already done all that. No joy at all.

Also, any apps I've downloaded within the last week I uninstalled them and still the same issue.

When you say older router, it's a brand new Sky Hub (UK) fkr fibre optic broadband. It was installed 3 weeks ago, no problems at all then today this phone decides not to connect anymore but all other 3 devices do. My bet this phone is faulty now and will no doubt involve a lengthy visit to the shambolic Samsung UK repair centre. I'll PM them on private chat thank you. No doubt their first problem solver will be "factory reset"

While on the topic of WiFi; why when I do a speed test on my laptop, it shows a higher number than on my phones speed test, connected to the same WiFi? Its getting annoying bc when I watch a video on my laptop, I can with no problem. But when I try to watch videos (Youtube) through WiFi on my phone, it tends to stop and buffer a lot.

Hi, I am assuming your PC has more than 1Gb of RAM, which is all the S3 has, as I understand it RAM is used for buffering the video, the less RAM the more stuttering on the video. Phil

Hey Mate you people in the UK are my friends, anything I can do to help you I will always try to do.:) Now I may fail at times, but I will always try.
Think you misunderstood my English humour, wasn't knocking you at all mate it was just a joke. No offence meant :)

Do you have a Verizon phone? If you do, this is another instance of Verizon forcing all traffic on one of their phones, wifi and mobile data, through their own proxy first.

I had a feeling this problem was more of something that the phones carrier, was forcing on the phones use. This is nothing new as it has happened before with many other carriers.
