Help Wifi problems after 4.0.4 update

I picked up a "free" Inc4G last evening and ran the firmware update. Now it's not seeing wifi networks. I can get it to recognize my network if I enter the SSID manually, but it won't finish authenticating.

Any thoughts? I've seen similar threads on (much) older versions of Android, but none seem to address this issue.

Update: It's starting to look like my router needed a reboot. It's been solid for so long I didn't think of it. I was able to connect after I did. Still, a scan doesn't show any other networks in the area, which is odd.

Wifi is working a little better, but connection management seems terrible compared to my original DInc. The phone doesn't even seem to know that I've driven 30 miles from my home network and still reports it as connected. Scan doesn't update the network list at all.

I guess I need to make rooting a priority.
