Help Wifi problems with this phone

slowdraw

Lurker
Hey, bought a ZTE Awe last week and I've been having issues connecting to my wifi connections with it. When I do connect with my phone the speeds are very slow than what I normally get and in addition all the other devices in my home that use a wifi connection lose their connectivity unless I disable wifi on my phone. If it's any help, the wireless router I use is a Linksys WRT54G, I've tried changing it to a Static IP and nothing really helps no matter what I do so I'm assuming it's a phone related issue.

I would root ur phone and put flash twrp recoverie and install one of the after market Roms ur problem should go away

What firmware is on the router?? Does it only happen at ur house??

The router firmware is v8.2.08 and yes it only happens at my house so far but I've only tried it on 3 separate connections and one was a public one.
If it only happens at home i would say its something to do with ur routers wifi configuration not the phone...

It sounds like your phone is trying to grab the same ip as another device. Bind the MAC addresses and see if that helps. Or assign static ips but MAC is easy way imo.

In short, people (including me) have resolved the problem of regularly losing a good wi-fi connection by unchecking all location services in Settings. One later post said it's poor hardware. Since my Awe cost me $25, I'm ok with manually turning on/off location services as needed, rather than go through the hassle of trying a return (especially since that poster experienced 7 successive bad-hardware Awes).
