WiFi problems

Hey guys, I'm new here. And up until recently, I was able to use my WiFi then I just couldn't. Out of the blue. No more.

The last thing I did was download Dragon Slayer and then 9GAG apps. I still got to check the recent posts on 9GAG. Then I turned off my WiFi, nothing peculiar in between. Sometime later, I turned it on and I couldn't connect. I thought nothing of it and turned it off and went about my day, thinking it was a momentary thing. Then I noticed when I tried it again the next day it still doesn't connect. I asked other people, they could connect to the WiFi. I was the only one that couldn't!

Every time I turned on the WiFi, it showed the available networks, the bars show excellent connection. But when I tried to connect to it, it either says, "Not in range" and the bars disappear or it tries to connect then just doesn't. After it tries or goes from "not in range," it would show up again after scanning for available networks, but with a subtitle that says "authentication problem"

Out of desperation, I factory reset my phone. Twice. Nothing's changed. It's still the same. I've tried downloading apps that fix wifi, or so whatever people say online. Wifix manager and wifiandmorefixer, to no avail! (I downloaded the apk through my computer then transferred to the phone)

Could the hardware be damaged in some way? Please help. Solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I have a 4.0.4 android phone, Starmobile Crystal (local Philippine brand).
