WiFi question, Droid x2

I received a replacement phone because my old one crashed. I set up my WiFi account on new phone.
On my old phone it remembered passwords and which WIFI I wanted to use. The new phone keeps kicking off the WiFi, plus I have to keep selecting which WiFi I want to use.
Did I miss a step when I set up WiFi on the new phone?
