To The Mods, can I please get this stickied, and tagged with appropriate things I may have missed?
Do you have the LG Connect, and have an issue with your wireless connection "looping" or constantly disconnecting, and reconnecting? Well if you do, then I have a solution, and the reason behind it. After spending nearly 4 hours on the phone with LG and metro's highest tiers of tech support in a conference call we finally figured out the reason, and how to temporarily fix it until the software issue is resolved.
What's happening?
That is something that I would rather not explain in great detail, but the gist of it is that Metro didn't pay for thorough compatibility testing at the LG Development Center, and for that reason, they expect us to spend more money (see later parts to understand what I mean by that.)
What's the technical reason?
Well, LG refused to (literally) give me an exact cause of it - I guess they're afraid of someone fixing it before they do - kinda like I did with DUN on the LG Rumor 2 For sprint HERE Which will cause a massive amount of hatred for their developers; and a possible change in things (Sprint disabled DUN altogether because of my guide to get it working off of their Network...it happens )
But, the short version of what they told me is that the software wasn't "developed fully." and that because of that there are certain brands/models that just "won't work.". They KNOW that this phone has issues with "N" and DRAFT networks, but they don't care, because metro didn't pay them enough to give a shit when they requested branding for this phone.
SO...
What can I do to fix this?
Well, honestly, a lot, but not much at the same time:
1. You can go buy a standard "G" router, and set it to access point mode (refer to google on how to do that with specific models you have.)
2. You can replace your current router with a standard "G"
3. Fight metro like a mother****er, and get a different phone...
These are really your only options.
What brand should I buy?
I went to Walmart today after taking a look in the back of my local metro store, and noticing that they had a netgear (piece of shit) and it worked just fine.
I purchased a series of routers, G, N-Draft, N300, N600, and N750 in all brands (yeah, I have money to test shit like that - besides it's Walmart, I can return what I don't need )
here's what I found out:
With MY specific phone Linksys didn't work...at ALL... Nor did Belkin - However, netgear worked fine on standard "G" ONLY!...
Here's the screwed up part: The manager at the store closest to me has a linksys router, and her connect works fine on her WRT54GS "G" Mode Linksys...
So in short, and closing...
If you are having the wifi loop issue with your LG connect, then DEFINITELY try netgear "G" mode routers first unless you can't get ahold of one, in which case Try LG; but it may not work.
As for belkin, I tried 6 different models, speeds, and network types, and NONE of them worked
Good luck to you, and I apologize for Metro's shitty service affecting all of our wallets.
