Help WiFi Sleep

I'm stock and since 4.2.2, my WiFi won't stay active during sleep even though I have it checked in the settings. Is there a fix for this?

if there is no work to do it sits idle to save battery.

You are right. But when I turn on WiFi my phone syncs to my backup drive and I would consider that work. It still shuts off anyway when the phone goes to sleep and before the backup is complete.

Try this go into the voice dialer app and say IP Settings, when it tells you to open up the ip settings select it and the firt or one of the first options in that menu is the wifi sleep policy, change it accordingly to your likings. And dont mess with the other settings in the menu

I tried that but voice search just brought up Google web search results and not a menu.
