Root WIFI Speeds Too Fast?

So far I've flashed both the O.A 2.3 & Monster 5.3 ROMS, and on both of these ROMS I noticed that whenever I logged into my college's WIFI, the WIFI on my phone just goes crazy. I'm talking about not connecting, working while in Airplane mode, going on and off even though saying "connected", and even giving me an error. But when it eventually does get on, it's blazing fast but doesn't last long. Does anyone know the cause of this?

Naming your topic "WIFI too fast" is going to make people think you are talking about your wifi being really fast and having no problem, therefor rename it "WIFI PROBLEMS" OR "DATA CONNECTION PROBLEMS" OR "WIFI PROBLEMS PLEASE HELP!!!"

Oh... and sorry i do not know what causes this.
