Wifi Stops Working?

Avren

Lurker
I have a Galaxy Q.

This happens whenever I push the sleep button to make the screen turn off:

When I flick the screen back on, the wifi says it is connected, but in order for it to actually work, I need to turn the wifi off and back on (on the phone) for it to actually work.

I need to do this EVERY time the screen goes black. Is there a fix for this?

Welcome aboard. I'm not familiar with your device, so I don't know where to redirect you for help with this issue. However, what you should do in the meantime is to try avoid pushing the sleep button.

Hopefully, someone with a solution might chime in to help you. Best of luck. ツ

This known as the "Deep Sleep" bug...occurs in a lot of Samsung phones. One of the ways to solve it is to root your phone and flash a custom rom that works better and debugged.

How do I root my phone and flash a custom rom? Also how will this fix it?

Also there is no 'avoiding pushing the sleep button'. Pushing the sleep button has the same effect as leaving the phone alone for a minute: It makes the screen go dark to save battery. That's when the wifi somehow stops working until I disconnect and reconnect...

On my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 plus, I will get random reboots/wifi errors if I set the wifi sleep policy to sleep "when screen turns off". I have found that if I set the wifi sleep policy to "never" the problem disappears (as far as I have noticed). You may use a bit more battery power under the "never"setting, but I have found that the extra battery usage is negligible compared to the annoyance of the random reboots/wifi errors.
