Root wifi tethering/hotspot

There's a fix using SQ lite that's simple and doesn't require an app like Barnacle when you're done. Google it, or read the developer thread on XDA.

Yes, you must be rooted. But rooting takes about 5 minutes, super easy. They also have a bootstrap backup now to recover if you have any issues with root.

There is a new build out. New features include support for Bionic/RAZR, as well as a brand new "tether shutdown on inactivity" feature. It seems that on RAZR, it may be necessary to use the "routing fix" setting if you can't reach certain sites. From other forum member's reports, even the stock hotspot exhibits this behavior.

so does this work on the spring galaxy s2 4g epic touch? if so please provide
straight forward steps on how to get this done. thx.

Any ideas why when using wifi tether the "tethering or mobile hotspot active" indication comes up in the notification bar? On my X this never came up when tether.

What do I do with this file?

After poking around with it (first tried installing with ROM manager and quickly realized that was NOT the right method) I realized this is an app file, and I figured out if you drag it to SD card, then navigate from phone using My Files app in the pre-installed Razr apps, it prompts you to install it.

NOTE: I received the OTA update *with* root, BUT, I apparently had to re-root AFTER the update. Because the WiFi Tether app wasn't working and asked if I was rooted; went back thru the DoomLord process and it works now.
