Root Wifi Tethering Not Working

So I have recently rooted my droid razr maxx, running 4.1.2, the main reason being for wifi tethering. I downloaded the wifi tether for root users apk, foxfi, and barnacle. When I go to activate tethering, now if them broadcast their ssid. Barnacle doesn't work altogether. But I can't find the network anywhere and when I try to manually find it it cannot connect. Any suggestions? I've been looking online for days and have found no solution
