Help wifi turns automatically. .. how to stop it?

Hey all, for some reason (probably something I did) my wifi keeps turning on when I want it off. How do I stop this from happening? I don't mind it, but I want to control it.

Thanks

Of course, make sure Settings>Wi-Fi>"Auto connect" is not checked. Then, press the soft menu button, go to Advanced, and make sure "Auto network switch" is not checked. That's about all you can do that I'm aware of. BTW some programs have their own setting for turning Wi-Fi on by themselves, but I'm assuming that's not your problem (i.e., Wifi Analyzer).

Thanks... I believe I have checked all the necessary settings, but it was still flipping back and forth... but in the last hour or so, it seems to have stopped or at least slowed down.

Sorry, what is soft menu button to get Advanced option? I'm also having the same problem.

Mine did this too. IDK if you fixed it, but here's how.
Settings>More Networks>Mobile Networks> Connections Optimizer> And un-check that box at the top. This will stop your issue.

For this issue I went to settings then to the more networks option, once there you should see networks optimizer, click on that and turn it off and it should solve your problem.

Why don't you read the answer a few messages up.
Here it is again if you can't find the message.

My s4 (which was on Verizon but just switched to straight talk a fee days ago) does. not have the connection optimizer. And I have been having the same problem with the wifi every since I switched to straight talk. And yes I have checked all other options as well and still does it. Hate it because it drains my battery super fast

Go to settings > click on wifi > click on the left menu at the bottom > click advanced > uncheck all the checks in this area - mainly the always allow scanning > then restart your phone.

So far this has worked.. it didn't until I restarted my phone, so be sure to do that after all the unclicks :p

let me know if this works for anyone else, please.

Camsmom926 ROCKS!
This was driving me crazy. And of course MyAccount from ST was the last app I installed.
Seems a bit funny and definitely self serving of ST to keep you off mobile data as much as they can.

If you have a Hotspot Locating app installed, check to see if it has a setting to automatically turn on Wi-Fi when within range of a hotspot. I have an app and have now unchecked that box. Hopefully that will work. I will know later today.
