Help Wifi turns off immediately after turning it on

Okay, this is weird as Hell.

Was trying to do miitomo with my s.o. and for whatever reason it refuses to actually let us friend each other. Thinking it was a matter of being in the same wifi together, I try to turn on my wifi on my mxp, only to find it immediately turns off.

Let me repeat. On my moto x pure, it turns the wifi off immediately after turning it on. This is a new one to me.

Well, this is a head scratcher for me. Unsure of what else to do, I made a nandroid with TWRP, had it wipe and then reinstalled TruPure X 2.8.2, as well as the optional flash files for the updated Marshmallow modem(s). Since then, the WiFi option works correctly again, and at least didn't seem to wipe my data completely either.

Though that now leads me to the question of how to setup wifi tethering so I can have my 3DS connect to it. I remember even with the original DS, they were fussy as hell with connecting to anything but a standard router.
