Help Wifi unstable after updating 2.2.2 to 2.3.6

Hi, I just updated my liquid mt from froyo to gingerbread 2.3.6 and m facing this wifi connection problem..it just loses conection after every 3 minutes or so for just a second and it gets back to normal..it really irritates while loading videos and all because of unstable connection, please HELP!!
 
Okay..I was thinking to flash it so do I need to backup ROM also? M not finding a way to backup my phone memory data can u help?
