Wifi vs Cell Data use

Hi - sorry for N00B question:

If I am connected to the 'net via WiFi will my new Galaxy S3 automatically use WiFi for data instead of the cell network? Do I need to change any settings to accomplish this? Will the phone do its own VOIP (i.e. without a separate app like Skype)?

Wanting to minimize the data $$$...

Don't have an S3 myself however it should operate the same my Incredible does - the moment I come into range of my home network my phone hooks up to it with no problems.

all phones by default are set up to send data over wifi first if available. look for the wifi icon showing signal strength, if it is there your phone will use that network for data, once you have connected to your home network your phone should automatically connect when you are in range, may take a minute but otherwise simple answer is yes you will always use your wireless network first

Using WiFi will eliminate the use of data from your plan but I think it depends on the carrier on if WiFi will do VoIP
