Help Wifi / Wifi Calling / Airplane mode / MMS fail weirdness

Ok. This is very strange. It's happening on both of my One S phones. It's possible it only started after the OTA update.

When wifi is on and wifi calling is enabled, the airplane mode setting goes into a state where it says it's "turning off".

When it's like that, I can not send MMS with Go SMS (I can send with stock messenger during that time).

If I turn wifi calling off, airplane mode goes into off and I can send MMS with Go SMS.

I know the OTA had something to do with a wifi calling fix, but I think they broke something.

Can anyone else confirm similar behavior?

I don't use GoSMS to test that part, so I can't confirm that. If I set my wifi calling to wireless preferred and connect to wifi, it will the same thing with airplane mode.

That can't be normal behavior. I think they broke something here.

I think when wifi calling is on, it's turning off some sort of data connection that Go SMS needs. Since it still works with stock messenger, maybe there's a Go SMS setting somewhere to correct this. I tried flipping a couple of settings, but that didn't work.

I posted here
Support: Wifi / Wifi Calling / Airplane mode weirdness
If anyone else replicates the problem, please post in that forum as well and maybe we'll get someone's attention.

Still playing around more here.

It's like when wifi calling is on, it's disabling the ability for mobile data to come on to perform functions that are not done over wifi (i.e. MMS).

Is there any way to get the attention of someone who can look into/fix this? I sure hope this can be fixed with an update to wifi calling app. If not, we are probably looking at months for a system update that will fix this.

An HTC tech support rep replied to my inquiry today. Unfortunately, he said he couldn't replicate the issue and started down the road of basic troubleshooting (testing in safe mode, factory reset, etc).

I turned it around and gave him some steps to double check everything and try again to replicate the issue. My guess is that he isn't on the 1.84 firmware update.

Everyone so far has confirmed this issue and it's on both my phones. I'm sure it's on his.

I'll have a lot of work to convince him there's a problem, but at least Iv'e got someone's attention and I'll eventually get there.

I was able to get HTC to escalate to a tier 2 tech who was very vigilant with trying to reach me to discuss the issue.

After detailing exactly what's happening, he commented that he say some other reports of this issue and something about a youtube video detailing it as well. Said he'd look into it further.

The next day, he called back saying they confirmed it's a bug and it would be fixed in the next maintenance release, but had no idea when that would be.

Very happy with HTC's level of support (after the first few go arounds getting tier 1 to finally understand what I was talking about and escalate).

A T-Mobile forum rep also noted that they've reported the problem and are working on it as well.

Not much else I can do here. Hopefully there will be another software update coming in the next month or 2.
