Help Wifi woes :(

First, let me say i love this phone. I bought my first att one x about a week ago, I was plagued by the erratic Wifi connection problem :( so, today I returned it and got a brand new one. Well, guess what? My brand new one x seems to have this unstable Wifi connection as well. Wtf HTC? I am forced to keep my Wifi disabled completely, because it says it's connected, but no apps work at all under Wifi... But they work perfectly under att's network. I bought this Flagship phone because I assumed everything would work. And if I can't figure out a way to stabilize my Wifi connection, as much as I don't want to do this, I may return my second HTC one x for sgs3 ;(

Who else has experienced this problem? What have you done to stabilized your Wifi connection? Please help............

Have you tried the standard fixes, static IP, changing the channel on your router?

I've seen others say that a router firmware update fixes the issues too. Can you try that?

This phone sucks. At least the wifi connectivity does. This is my 3rd one x, and I can't get a solid wifi connection from 60-75 ft. Let me put it into perspective, my entire family is a bunch of apple whores, from iphones to ipads. They all get a solid connection from at least 100 feet. I gave it 3 chances, and I'm forced to use bullshit hspa in my family room, while my family is getting a full wifi connection. I will be paying an extra 100$ and getting the gs3 next week. So, my phone will connect just fine in the family room, it'll show full bars. Then all of the sudden connectivity absolutely ceases, and I get 6mbps at 75 ft while it says it has an excellent connection. Is 75 feet really that far for a wifi connection? What do you guys get?

Obviously, I like this phone enough to give it 3 chances, but it just doesn't work for me.

I sincerely apologize for my last post.

Tempers flare, if you're on your 3rd handset, I can understand your frustrations. However, please remember people of all ages read this forum so try to keep the really naughty words out of things. :)

Fwiw, the Wi-Fi is kind of bad in general, I reckon I'd probably struggle at anything over 75 feet. My tab probably would too though.

For sure.

Earlier this morning, I changed a few settings on my router including channels, frequencies etc. It actually made a difference for the most part, and I was able to receive a good connection in my family room. Just now, it reverted back to 6mpbs/no connection... While showing a "fair" connection on the wifi list. What gives?

Why is my phone lagging out when connecting to wifi when I'm in my family room ? I get a good connection in my bedroom which is arguably farther away than my family room. I just don't get it.

The more walls the better? Opposite of what I thought lol. My bedroom is separated by considerably more walls than my family room.

Also, the walls do not explain why sometimes I have a 35+mbps connection, and then a 6/9mbps out of the blue. When selecting wifi channels/frequencies what is a good rule of thumb for the best connection?

You want to use the channel that's got the least amount of interference for neighbouring networks. Do a site survey to find out what that is.

No, the opposite :p

More walls = more interference. As Rusty says though, have you tried changing the channel with the least interference? There's an app called WiFi Analyzer which will help you do this.

Actually I have used wifi analyzer. Good app. I really have no free channels in my area so I went with one with least amount of interference, like I said this helped. It was working for maybe an hour or so and I was ecstatic. But then my one x broke my heart again and the wifi ceased. Once again, only in my family room.

Fonzig- yes I know about this fault. I have big gripes with sending my phone in to HTC as they told me it would take a few weeks for it to be delivered back to me. My phone works fine at my girlfriend's house on her wifi. So I'm not sure if it's the my phone hardware, or my home wifi network

I had wifi issues also, it was fine for a few weeks then I could only get wifi in the dame room as the router. I sent mine back to HTC (they were very good, sent a courier) and yes I was without my phone for 6 days, but it works now fine. .... Until next time eeek

Where are you from? I'm located in San Diego, I have no idea where HTC's service center is though...
