Help Wifi wont turn off

Even though I turn off wifi, in the battery usage section, it shows the wifi is turned on the whole time of the battery cycle. The only time it goes off is when I change to airplane mode.

I can not figure out why it wont turn off for longer battery life.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

for extra clarification. When I do toggle off wifi, I cant not use it. Its just shows up in the battery usage section so I assume its eating battery life.

I understood the battery usage shows what you have used, not what is being used at the present time, so even though you switched off the Wi-Fi it will still report the amount of battery it used while it was switched on. Phil

what i see in the battery usage in the history details is a timeline of what is being used and when. The wifi is a solid bar indicating that it is being used the whole time even when the phone is sleeping and wifi is turned off.

As you can see, the wifi is on the whole time even though I have tried to turn it off.

Go to Settings > Wi-FI click the three dots in the top right go to Advanced and Uncheck 'Always Allow Scanning' . This is what keeps the WI-FI on even though its off.

Note: You might need to reboot your phone for this to take affect.
