Why is my internet not working unless I'm connected to wifi?!

Do you have 3G/4G data turned on?
If not, turn it on.
Do you have a signal?
No signal = no data.
Are you paying for a data plan?
Data isn't free, you have to buy a plan.

Your device could also be in airplane mode (even with wi-fi on). Check this via Settings -> Wireless & networks and make sure Airplane mode is not checked.
