Wiki for apps (not app for wikis)

As I'm reading and participating in apps threads, I'm finding it hard to sift through all the different comments on what the different apps for a given purpose (e.g., calendar apps) can and can't do. I'm imagining that if we had a wiki with a page for each category of app (e.g., navigation, calendar, email, calculator, etc.), with a row for each app and columns for check marks on what it can or can't do, we could build up a knowledge base that would be easier to use than reading through a discussion. We could even invite authors of apps to help keep the info on their apps updated.

Rather than start a new wiki, perhaps we should build on an existing one. The one that seems most developed is Android Wiki; here is their apps page. It's pretty pointless--just a list of apps 706 apps, with a request to add any that aren't listed. But new sub-pages for different important categories--primarily the ones that spawn long threads here discussing the various options--could be quite useful.

Is there enthusiasm here for doing that?

Seems like there's not much enthusiasm, but I went ahead and took a baby step towards it with a table for calendar apps--so far only lists a few apps and a few features, but it's just to show the idea in hopes others will like it and contribute.

wiki - biggest load of left wing garbage out there. If an app doesn't work, are they going to blame bush?

Wait, what? As a conservative I whole-heartedly disagree with this. Wikis are very useful, and not political in any way, shape, or form.

As to the original post, I'm surprised this isn't already out there! I'll contribute what knowledge I have.

I wouldn't use it but I'm used to skimming and searching forums for the info I need. The problem that I see with a Wiki is that you can't get a feel for trends like you can by analyzing forum posts and threads. Plus, unless you figure out a way to get significant buy-in on the idea it won't be very effective.

What are you talking about? A wiki is a piece of software. It can't be left wing, right wing or anything.
