WikiLeaks website publishes classified military documents from Iraq - CNN.com

New massive release to put Iraq War and WikiLeaks in spotlight - CNN.com

http://www.scpr.org/news/2010/10/22/wikileaks-begins-exposing-400000-us-documents-abou/

Im sure this will start a huge rant, but seemed like something to open up the floor on.

Regardless of what happened in these leaks, true or not, how many Americans/Afghans/Civilians will die because of this now?

Will this put our National Security at risk?

People act like this is just "leaking" a story. Kind of like when people leak pics of a new phone/computer/game.

This is different folks. Much different.

the whole fuss is just another case of hypocrisy if you ask me.......the same people up in arms about wikileaks never had a problem when photos of prisoner treatment were released under Bush.......... then it was all about exposing the atrocities the Bush regime were committing regardless of how many troops died as a result......... now when the proof that nothing has improved and in many cases worsened under Obama appears..... all of a sudden its a matter of national security and this must not be exposed

always the same story vietnam, korea, iraq, afghanistan..... when the liberals protest and expose things that put lives in danger is patriotic....... when the shoe is on the other foot its treason

heres an idea....... if youre doing something that will put troops lives in danger if you get caught....... DONT DO IT

war is the same regardless of which party you support....... it shouldnt be a game of politics

wikileaks isnt doing anything that hasnt been done by other entities like moveon.org 100 times.... but for some reason they are patriotic when they do it

Well, this Australian fellow, Julian Assange, who is in charge of Wikileaks, has a history of loving to hack into computer systems, no matter what security is in place or for what reason. Universities, hospitals, medical files, private business records and of course classified government documents.

For him to claim a motive of morals, to expose atrocities, etc, is laughable; he's about sneaking into other people's business, a high-tech peeping tom.

His personal life, early on, helps us understand a bit why he's that way, with a mother who "kept him in hiding" during a custody battle, and who was involved with strange cults.

He's a very intelligent nut case.

However, this time he's hit on something important: the possibility of (more) U.S. war crimes. The U.S. military has a long history of those horrid things, and for us to put it all in the basket of, "that's war, things happen," is against all humanity; it is common, but it needs to be exposed and then guarded against.

This crazy goof Assange is just the type of person it takes to bring these things out: he's a relentless, intelligent person on a vendetta. After he's through, lock him up, but for now we need him.

I'm not sure how patriotism works into this since wikileaks is an australian organization and most of the leaks pertain to american operations. I'm I missing something?

so theres a big uproar in Australia over the leaks?

no..... thats where patriotism works in..... many of the same people who are outraged at wikileaks (Americans) were all in favor of this type of activity when it was Bush's watch...... because under Bush it was patriotic to expose the truth about the govt activities...... but they believe under Obama its not

Hey Jullian if your reading this your going to get caught soon because if you keep on doing this your going to be the cause of world war three. Just wait until the F.B.I catch you or even the army because you are are the cause of killing lots of troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and giving away embarissing information about the U.S diplomatic cables even though I am a British civilian I think the U.S goverment are under a load of pressure at the moment.

eh hello?

Perhaps if we avoided wars of convenience and didn't lie about what we were doing, we wouldn't be getting caught with our pants down.

I've always said if your going to document it then be prepared for people to read it. if it isnt something u want getting out then dont document it...

Hey oscarw, last I heard Mr Assange had been released on rather sizeable police bail in London pending further court hearings after voluntarily turning himself in. ;)
