Root Wildfire S updating HBOOT error 190/140

So I have an A510e Wildfire S, S-ON. So I want to root it using htcdev.com. I want to flash the HBOOT to the unlocked version, but on the list, theres only HTC EU 2.13.401.3 while my phone is already 2.26.401.3.

So I got myself "RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.26.401.3_Radio_47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M_release_261695_signed" but it keeps giving me bootloader error 140. Then I tried using the 2.13.401.3 from HTC DEV, but gives me error 190, main version is older.

I am really confused at this point what to do. I tried flashing it from the phone from the SD card with PG76IMG.zip, but it says the same thing over and over again. Can anyone help me out? Thanks
 
Try with European RUU since that will suit for the most and proceed with Htcdev.com


Note : You need to have HTC Sync installed but not running. Open Task Manager and make sure it's not there. If it is, clear it. The reason we need HTC Sync installed is for the Wildfire S USB drivers that come with it. Also, make sure that the phone is in USB Debugging mode.
 
I have HTC Sync installed and its surely not running. And I am currently trying with an European RUU, but it isnt working. Is there any other EU RUU?
 
The HBOOT menu says *Locked* and it is S-ON. My HBOOT version is 1.09.0099.

EDIT: OK so apparently everything is OK, my phone had the latest HBOOT from the beginning, no use for RUU. I went to unlock it, did sucessfuly and now on to root! Thanks for the help!

I'm having the same issue - how did you unlock it?
 
If it says locked than just continue with the steps the only time you need it update is when you don't see anything in pink at the top
