Will California Split Into Two States?

This is an angle I hadn't thought/read about. Very interesting.

I am not sure the people, who seem to be really the ones behind this "movement" are really thinking this far ahead. Certainly I could be wrong.
Riverside County Board Member Jeff Stone, a Republican, has cited the dysfunction of California's state government in calling for a new state comprised of 13 of 58 counties. The Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to allow Stone to convene a statewide meeting on "South California," and now he is seeking financial support from corporations he believes are discouraged by California's onerous regulations and unresponsive government.
From the provided link.

Stone says California is too big to govern, which has led the state to raid local government coffers because of runaway spending.
From the first link of google. Republican Jeff Stone wants to split California; make South California 51st state

Jeff Stone, a Republican who serves on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, wants to host a summit for southern California

Thanks for those quotes. If it wasn't clear, I am certainly not disagreeing with you. I simply mean that the initial movement seemed to be driven by public demand, not by government. The persons you quoted, did they start this movement, or did they pick up on it when they realized they could benefit in ways the public was unaware? Some VERY quick/minor research seems to indicate that this topic (succession) has been discussed for years with differing agendas.

The lastest round was start by Stone at a riverside board meeting. His number one opening topic was the debt and the government raiding coffers.

Second qoute.

Alright then. I stand corrected.

The article I read stated that private citizens were behind it and they didn't mention money as their primary motivation.
