Help Will I be able to update to Jellybean? Help!!!

Hi,
I'm worried that I wont be able to update to Jellybean for 2 reasons:
1. When I open the settings page on my S3, then go to about phone, the option button to "Update Software" is missing.
2. When I connect my phone to my pc I get an error message saying "Hardware I.D. missing, please contact Samsung.

I'm on the Orange UK network and I have the latest version of Kies.
I am running Android 4.0.4
I want to update to Jellybean !!! (when it's available).
Please help.

I think that Orange wont have a clue how to sort it out.

Other people are having the same problem with the missing button:
My "Software Update" button is missing!!!

There was a thread that someone said about the "Hardware ID missing" problem, and that was to try to install an earlier version of Kies, but I don't know where to download it.

Welcome to the forum diwotti.

There's the option to manually flash the firmware using Odin. The official firmware should be available to download from Samfirmware shortly after it has been released.

Nah you can manually flash firmware to a carrier branded phone. As the firmware will be the official UK orange jellybean release it will be exactly the same as if you updated with Kies or ota. It won't increase the flash counter or mess with your csc.
