why did my optimus stop vibrating

Check your settings to make sure vibration didn't get turned off. Sometimes an app can change settings.
Sometimes they get stuck. Try tapping around the back of the device and see if it will start working again.
It's possible there's a hardware failure. If the above doesn't help, take your phone in to your carrier and see if they can repair it.
