Help will reseting to factory cure my battery probs?

If I factory reset my UK S3 phone, will it improve my battery life? I'm sure it may be an app or something, but its woeful at the moment.

eg I charged it up, took it off charge, and went to sleep at midnight, so had been about 1/2 hr off charge. In the morning at 8am it was flat.

Nothing seems to show in battery usage, I also have Better Battery Stats, but unsure on what it shows, doesn't seem to be anything that I can see.

I'm a little sick of it now, when I first go the S3 it had great battery life.

Also what do I need to backup? I have my contacts synced to Google, apps I can re-install. Is there anything I need to backup apart from pics and videos to my SD card?

I'm upto date on my carrie (3 in UK), of firmware, its not rooted, (dont want to), on ...ELH1

How good is your reception? It might not have to do with apps running in background, but your cell reception.

one way to test is turn off mobile data and use wifi. If your signal is low, using mobile data would eat your battery if you have email sync set or some android system apps might be using it.
