Help Will SGS get Gingerbread?

Are these guys from samsung india saying the truth that SGS will get 2.3 ? With so many problems with froyo if update to gingerbread is confirmed i can wait for him ( even if that happens Q2 2011 ). I read that the hardware reqs are similar to these for froyo so i think SAMSUNG should satisfy 5+ Million SGS owners !

I hope they are saying the truth, but I don't know when it will be coming, Samsung did not finish yet releasing the 2.2 to everyone, and knowing Samsung's record, I wont count on getting the official 2.3 soon.

Froyo was release in May, 2010 and here we are at the end of the year and Samsung is still rolling it out, so 7 months later, I would think that if we ever get 2.3 it wont be till latter in 2011.

I don't think there would be too much of a delay since Nexus S hardware is certainly based on the Galaxy S. I'm hoping that this time Samsung would be able to turn the tide and get some good publicity out of the update

It's been out for a while. Not officially of course. It's called JPU by samsung.

I read today on Toms hardware that Samsung have confirmed they will be releasing 2.3 gingerbread on the Galaxy S. It's rumoured to come out about February/March next year.

Well, the Nexus S kernel is getting ported over as we speak, so I won't be surprised if we see a custom 2.3 rom before Jan.
