Will the Note 2 4.3 update make it with the same software as the note 3?

Hi all

Just a quick thread to see expectations for the note 2 4.3 update. If it comes with the same functionality as the note 3 (I don't see why it wouldn't be able to) then I probably won't want to upgrade.

I'm hoping for the dot circle square type features for multitasking but not sure if they'll add the improved scrapbook stuff.

Any thoughts?:)

No chance.

The software upgrade will probably bring a handful of extras, but I seriously doubt it will have many of the new features of the note3 - it would slow down sales of the note3 otherwise...

I'm starting to have doubts we might even get 4.3 upgrade :( The last I read on Engadget was update availability for S3 and S4 only: Android 4.3 arriving for Galaxy S III and Galaxy S 4 in October

Some were speculating that Samsung wants to push Note 2 customer to upgrade to Note 3 with 4.3 support in order to use Gear. Not sure if it makes sense, and I hope it's false info. The whole point of marketing is to make you spend more money instead of getting something for free. So why give away new S4/N3 features, when they can take more money out of your pocket to buy the next "next big thing"? :D

Good points, I was thinking along the lines of how the note 2 was first with dual screen multitasking and the paper artist application and then it came out not long after to the s3.

The above comments make sense as I guess the note 2 and s3 aren't classed in the same 'line' of phones

Disappointed!

The Note II is compatible with Gear with update coming in October. See 50:17 in vid.

I watched that stream live on Wed and got excited as well. Not trying to be pessimistic, but that Engadget article threw me off track. It's possible N2 update will be some dot update to make it Gear compatible. Let's hope 4.3 will come to N2, although don't keep your breath you will get N3 or S4 features. Also, different carriers have different features. Even with hardware being the same for S4, unlike N2, Verizon still had a few things disabled in S4.

I just got the Nexus 4 and played around with it for a day before giving it to my dad. I know people all said that Android OS is cleaner and better than 3rd party versions, but call me crazy, I actually like Touchwiz better. But what I hate is that 3rd party OS update is on the mercy of both the phone manufacturer and carrier. This is one thing I missed about Apple. If there is an update, everyone will get it. The carrier cannot stop it. BTW, as soon as I connect the Nexus 4 to WiFi, it was updated to Android 4.3!

I used to hang on every Engadget word. Now when they say something I check it against multiple other sources first......then maybe I believe them.

There's a new update for the Note 2 now....currently downloading on Kies. Not sure if it's 4.3 or one to get ready for 4.3........will let you know shortly
(I have an international version)

Edit: Just a small one :( but seems to run a little smoother

Doesn't matter if they allow it to be compatible. If a code is released, we'll have the option of picking a ROM that'll have it all. No way would a developer not jump on the 4.3 bandwagon. If Samsung says you can't, someone out there will refuse to take no for an answer. :p
