Root will verizon give me a new D2 if...

will verizon give me a new phone if the one i have is bricked and stuck at the boot logo?

I highly doubt it. When you root and put on ROMs your phone it says something to the effect of any damage is your fault and the carrier/manufacturer is no longer liable.

You can always try, but unless you have the insurance, you might be out of luck. This phone is pretty hard to brick though. You can always SBF if you have troubles.

Regardless of what happens, you will get a factory refurb (CLNR)
Bootloop should get you a replacement (provided you didn't cause it) - but IDK if they look at the phones or not when they get them back, other than water damage, to see if it was tampered with.
My bet is they just take them apart and that's it.

They will replace the phone if one of your hard keys on the slide out qwerty doesn't work though...

thanks guys! it was my fault and its stuck at the boot logo and i cant flash a new SBF on it beause my battery is almost dead. so the bootloader just says "cannot program low battery". i have insurance on it i think im going to try to say it wont charge and it wont turn on. i really hope it works. hah this is probably a stupid question but any ideas how to "accidently" break a key on the keyboard to make it look like it wasent my fault?

you are probably better off finding an alternate way to charge the battery than trying to trick vzw reps. See if you can get an external battery wall charger thingy because you can definitely sbf back to a working condition if you just find a way to charge the battery. If you can find a way to get to another droid 1 or 2 then you can charge your battery from that too.

It's never your fault. Sometimes the "W" works, and sometimes you need to press the hell out of it to get it to work. It's happened to me in the past for real.

The phone doesn't always charge in bootloader, and when it's boot looping, the resources are being used to start the phone, hence, no charging.

I too would just try to leave it plugged into the wall for 45 mins in bootloader. Give it another whirl.

Also, I do not condone tricking VZW either. It just seems that they get so many of these phones back bricked or otherwise that they don't care anymore.

Worst case, bring the phone into VZW bootlooping, they won't be able to do crap, and they will just order you a new one.
If it does end up working, just make sure the person is not smart enough to realize that you are rooted, or otherwise, if it is still in that condition.

I had a bootloop that superseded 3 sbf attempts, brought it to VZW (last state I left it was rooted and ROMmed) and he basically did some keyboard moves to wipe data, and that was it. I did more than he did.
