Yup, I plan on buying as soon as the doors open on release day. I'm counting the days til I get rid of this damn iPhone 3G. (Ironically I typed this reply and do most my surfing of androidforums on my iPhone. Still, it's days are numbered.)

Nope, with the release date pushed back so far. I might as well just wait for the LTE version or the HTC Holiday because I will be using this phone for the next 2 years
I don't care too much about LTE because the 3G speeds will already be a huge improvement over Sprint. I can only get Sprint 4G in the middle of the city. Tampa has it but you can't get it on the outskirts. What's the damn point?!

No, the lines will be way too long. I will wait until the crowds dwindle and the riot police are no longer needed for crowd control.

Plan to wait until after Oct. 4th to see if the other phone is worth it. I want a larger device screenwise and really only considering this, the iP5 and the Samsung focus S.
Sprints network is crippling the samsung epic touch sg2, whatever they named it, experience from what I hear. I almost went there, glad I didnt.
I plan on purchasing this phone *before* release date. There's always some retailer out there that has them for sale the Friday before release. I bought my Captivate and my Thrill both before release. Call around starting Thursday. Call your local Costco, and your local AT&T Corporate store. Ask if they have any in stock that they can sell. Then call on Friday. Make sure you call kinda later in the day (after 1pm usually works for me) after they get their shipments.

Yeah I am getting terrible service with Sprint, Sprint needs to step it up. The Epic Touch is one of the best phones I have ever used.
I have been thinking of switching to AT&T since I do not have to pay a cancellation fee, I would either get this or the International one. Either way, this phone is going to be awesome.
Yeah I got the Thrill too. Gave my Captivate to my Wife. Then we got another Captivate from my neice and I was setting it up as a game device for the kids. After having the Thrill for 2 weeks the Captivate was so light, and so thin, and I emitted an audible "mmmm" when I held it. To make sure the other Captivate wasn't broken I put my SIM in it for a couple days. At 5pm the Captivate was still at 65% battery life while the Thrill was consistently at 35% or lower at 5pm. That was when I knew the Thrill was going back for the SGSII.
Yup. Display brightness was set to auto, screen timeout the same 30sec, and all configurable sync set to as close as I could make them.
There was one difference though. The Captivate was running a leaked (but otherwise unmodified) Gingerbread release, while the Thrill was stock FROYO. GB isn't worth 30% battery though.
In my tests between the 2 phones, I noticed 2 major "elephant-in-the-room" differences regarding battery life. 1) With auto-brightness turned on, the Thrill measured consistently higher brightness in the same light as the Captivate. 2) The Thrill let programs run in the background much longer than the Captivate. I was consistently killing 3-4 apps manually with the task killer versus 1-2 with the Captivate.

I will be waiting on the sidewalk when they open. I've been using ye olde flip phone since late July and the untimely death of my Captivate. The wait has been painful.
I still need to call in and find out if I have an upgrade on my line. My parents have been gracious enough to keep me on their crazy cheap legacy corporate plan and I can't remember the last time one of us actually used our own upgrade to buy a new phone. When I got my Captivate no one but an AT&T store would sell me a phone at the discounted rate because they claimed that only an AT&T corporate store could authorize an upgrade line swap. I really hate buying phones at AT&T stores and hoped to get it a little cheaper elsewhere, but this is one of the rare instances where instant gratification is worth an extra $50-100 to me.

Why should he? If the Thrill meets his needs and wants in a phone, then he has no regrets and shouldn't be chastised for it.
I'm waiting on the SGS2 and if that phone does everything i need it to do without any major problems then i wont have regrets or buyers remorse.... not even if the Prime or Holiday or whatever else comes downt the line. It's inevitable that newer/faster/better performing devices are ALWAYS right around the corner. Just get what meets your requirements/wants and be happy.... without judging others' decisions

Hardly chastising and not judging. The discrepancy between the two devices is large, but I understand why somebody would get tired of waiting. I'm always an advocate for not waiting on devices if you want something new. If you're always waiting for what's coming, you'll never buy anything. But at the same time, if I just bought a new device (even if I loved it) right before they released one I'd like even better, I'd still regret it. To each his own though.
Irony at its worst!! The one that starts this thread and has provided all of us GS2 fiends a place to congregate has to wait an extra day! That sucks!
