Windows 7 Phone will never beat out Android

I'm curious LightSpeed, why are you here? I think you're bashing Android pretty hard in the face of mounting evidence of its explosive growth. Aside from major legal issues, I seriously doubt Android is going to be a failure. You don't need to be a tinkerer to customize Android in its stock mode. Now, if you're going to root, then yes being a tinkerer is a definite plus. However, I think the point of Android is the freedom. You want to stay with WP7? Fine, but look at Microsoft's earlier offerings in the mobile department. They haven't been good and MS has a lot of ground to make up for in the mobile world with iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Symbian being the major players controlling most of the market. Hell, even other mobile operating systems like Meego and Bada are barely a blip on the map.

Android devices can use MicroSD Expandable memory cards which boost the Galaxy S, Droid X, Droid 2 can have up to 40 GB of memory.

Phone manufacturers find Android tempting as it allows wide array of customizations, so no Android phone is alike. Whilst that Windows Phone 7 or iOS looks almost EXACTLY the same.
so you have to spend your own money to get decent memory?

"MS has a lot of ground to make up for in the mobile world with iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Symbian"

yea a world with archiac blackberry plummeting in marketshare, and non-existent symbian (in the US). the only ones to count are android and iphone. Now, Android is growing but it is fragmented and that could be the way it dies (like windows mobile), and the iphone is competive but tiring to look at the same thing after 4 years.

"If the only reason OEMs use Android is because there's no limit to what it goes on.... why then would any OEM use W7P that has so many restrictions....?"

because wp7 is the first true competitor to the iphone.

Except for Android which, you know, will likely pass Apple's numbers by the end of this year.

Honestly fragmentation is not a problem at all, you just didn't spend more money to buy a higher-end device (you bought the HTC Wildfire), Windows Phone 7 phones and iPhones costs more than even the HTC Desire, so no excuse for getting a wrong phone.

That's one ugly looking LG phone. Certainly not as nice looking as the HTC ones they have out.

once again, there is more to the UI than the "skin"

no theme in the world will make the stock android media player look and FUNCTION as good as the zune. (one of many examples, you could say the same for games and ms office, and everything else)

I guess what im trying to say is the core android OS isn't designed up to par to what I believe is a good design.

I agree with you there, but that doesn't change the fact that WP7 isn't open source. You seem to think that in a touchscreen environment that the G part of the GUI has nothing to do with the UI. A graphic user interface is only as good as the "skin" it's wrapped in. The GUI or "skin" or "UI" (all the same thing) on Windows 7 phone looks absolutely amazing, but i'll be damned if you can change anything about it. Want to use last.fm to scrobble your music instead of Zune Market? Too bad. Have an awesome idea for a plugin to your interface? Too bad. You won't see a single music player alternative on WP7, or a way to buy music natively that's not the Zune Market. Now, those things may be well enough to leave alone, but what if you just plain want something more?

I like android simply because it lets me do whatever I want. It's a free and open platform. What seems to be overlooked is that the sleekness of the interface on the Windows 7 phone is COMPLETELY possible in android, it just hasn't been done yet. Take a look at SlideScreen. It's a GUI, UI, or Skin for Android that is currently being developed.

It's miles ahead of other things on Android, but it's being done. The level of integration that Windows 7 has just hasn't been done, yet.

Oh, and developers are already in the process of creating an interface like above for Android.

Slacker Radio
Slacker Radio is much like last.fm and Pandora but has a personal feel with many preset radio stations and a nice UI. Slacker Radio is also available for: BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, Palm webOS, Windows Mobile, Sony Walkman, , Sony Blu-ray Player as well as other devices.
Iheartradio
As the name suggests, iHeartRadio is a streaming app for WP7 with 750 stations from across America. You get lyrics for the track playing and a link to buy it in the marketplace, or you can sign up for a free account to build your own stations

just a couple examples, im not sure if thats what you meant. last.fm hasnt made a wp7 app yet

ive seen that video, that is a wp7 test unit, and it still beat android the first few tests

5:28 to 5:35 : wp7 beta was smooth as butter, and android scrolling is choppy, 2 years after launch.

You should really try the HTC Desire HD, as it is smooth as butter, and Windows Phone 7 has no Adobe Flash 10.1 support

And HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z boots up faster than every phone out there (Including feature phones):

You are spending money on a phone, and you paid for that capacity too.

Honestly I would spend more for more memory.

Of course I would spend my own money, what do you think I will use to buy something? Rubies?
lol, what Im trying to say is the phone should come, from stock, with a decent amount of storage

wp7 has 8 GB minimum. thats a decent amount. if you want more obviously expand, but with android you have no choice but to buy an sd card just to get even 8 GB

The battery size is too small to really say if the battery life is bad. Engadget mentions the battery size a few times....

HTC did that with one of their WP7 phones too, the HD 7. Both phones have a 1230 mAh battery in em. The HD 7 has the exact same size battery, has the exact same talk time. The Desire HD actually has a longer standby time tho. Must be the screen tech or something for the standby time difference.
