Help Windows 8.1

Hi I recently got my galaxy s3, around the same time I upgraded my PC to windows 8.1. I have happily connected my s3 via the usb port and transfered gigs of data no problem. Until today I now get a message from windows saying "The last USB device you connected has malfunctioned, windows will disable it".

Now I can't see it at all. I'm a complete android novice and have no idea where to look to solve the issue.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try looking in device manager. (Windows key + r> type in devmgmt.msc and then you'll be greeted with Device Manager.) And if you see the device, try looking on the internet for the driver.

Device manager says Unknown USB Device (device descriptor request failed) and it has the familiar yellow asterik.

Try looking on the internet for the Galaxy S3 drivers. Make sure they're from Samsung
