A problem has appeared since upgrading to Windows 8(32bit). Kies loads OK and my Galaxy S2 is found and loads up OK within Kies, apart from one thing. The current firmware object is blank. Obviously, the only reason anyone would use Kies is for the convenience of firmware upgrades, but being for some reason - which I hope someone can help with -the firmware section is blank, then for upgrading, i'm stuffed!. BTW, this also holds true for the Galaxy Ace 2, so it appears that this is a Windows 8/Kies issue. Any ideas anyone ???

See #1.7 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide for the alternative way to update without using Kies. Personally, I prefer the Odin method as I find Kies too temperamental. I do know that there are still some teething problems with Kies and Windows 8 I'm afraid.
