windows-like web browser behavior

Dr Beavis

Lurker
when clicking on a link associated with a file, a windows-based web browser brings up a dialog which allows to either choose a directory to download a file to, or to open the file with any app associated with that file's extension. i am looking for an android-based web browser that behaves the same way. so far, only opera mobile seems to allow a user to choose a download directory. and what about choosing an app to open a file? i know that such choice comes up when opening a file from a disk, but what about directly from a web browser?

thank you!

It will only ask you based on the settings of the browser to always ask where to save. For example I have set my Windows browser to not ask me where I want to save downloads. Same for Android. You have to set the browser to always ask.

As for the opening of a file, it will only occur if you have no defaults set and you have multiple apps that can open a file. For example, if you try to open a doc file and you have both Polaris and Quickoffice installed, the phone will ask you which one you want to use.
