Help windows not detecting g2

i dont know how or when it happened but my dell laptop with windows 7 os stopped detecting g2...all was fine before i factory resetted the phone now the laptop doesnt recognise the device
it is getting charged but i cant transfer anything between phone and laptop

for my pc it is working all fine but for laptop this problem is arising
even wireless transfer isnt working

how can i resolve this

1.Check to see if the drivers are properly installed. {start>right click on "computer" >properties >device manager. Find your phone.
2. Sometimes if it can't find the phone, try another USB port. Windows should try to find proper drivers for the device.
3 . Also, when you plug in your phone, make sure you select the media transfer/storage option.

Let me know if any of that helps, we'll figure this out.

+1 for another USB port and setting for MTP media transfer.
Also possibly a defective cable.

For what it's worth, I use SwiFTP on my phone side loaded as it isn't in the playstore and use filezilla on the PC when I want to move things wirelessly via FTP

i checked in the device manager the device is listed but it is showing this message in device status

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

i tried keeping in another usb port but no use

What about using the wireless storage feature? It comes in real handy when you don't want to be tethered. Also, works like a charm on all the PC's I've tried.

Have you tried reloading any drivers or driver packages? If so, skip this but just in case it would be helpful, you can do that here:

LG Manuals, Software & Firmware Updates | LG USA

Use the 4 step method to get to your drivers.

Step 1 = mobile
Step 2 category = cell phones
Step 3 subcategory = Android Phones
Step 4 > choose your model

Then scroll down slightly and click the "software update" tab. That will provide an option to download and install the USB driver for your phone.

Yes, then if the phone isn't being recognized and Windows isn't locating the proper driver for it, downloading it from that location is the next step.

Again, after you install the drivers, if it isn't recognized, try switching USB ports again.

i think the usb ports itself are not recognizing any thing like pendrive or phone
i think the ports are not working
how to reset them so that they work

If none of your USB ports is working, that would certainly explain some things. Couple troubleshooting options for that here:

USB PORTS RANDOMLY STOP WORKING.

If the laptop is low on battery, there may be an onboard setting to disable usb at some point also to preserve power.

+1 on checking BIOS.
+1 on RESET USB procedure from Microsoft site - I think I had to do the RESET USB procedure in the previously mentioned post, but it was on a WXP machine, not Win7. I hope this is the problem.

If nothing is being recognized, sticks, etc, then it's possible you have a hardware problem. Initially, I was thinking cable...
