Windows Phone Challenge?...Anybody tried and won

I know it has to have an ending, but I do find it rather funny. In my mind I keep seeing as some claim from Microsoft with fine print. "WE HAVE THE GREATEST AND FASTEST MOBILE OS!!!!!!!.......between the hours of 10 to 6 Monday through Friday and 10 to 7 on weekends."

Oh yeah. You know they're gonna use all the "data" for marketing, as "proven fact" that they make the "fastest" smartphones...LOL.

Does anyone know what the list of challenges are? I'd be interested to see if I can configure my phone to be able to do those challenges quickly. I'm sure those MS/Nokia reps have their WP phones configured specifically to complete those tasks quickly.

What if speed isn't your highest priority? If WM7.x is like WM6.x and it can't do anything without being locked to MSoutlook which is overprices, takes too much maintenance, etc. being locked into Outlook was no better than being locked into itunes. now they can say that with android your locked into google but not really, i can use my phone without a google account, both my kids are using my older ones that way.

I'm pretty sure the list is out there of all the challenges that have been reportedly been done.

Windows Phones now aren't anything like old Windows Mobile phones, from what I remember. When they completely did away with Windows Mobile and just called the OS Windows Phone, the functionality (from what I've heard) is day and night. Still wouldn't make me go back, but if I were to do the challenge against an old Samsung Instinct and get that phone in exchange...that would be perfectly fine for me because I could just sell the Windows Phone easily.

I don't think Windows Phones are locked into using outlook. At least, I was never locked into using Outlook with my old Windows Mobile phones before, so I can't imagine that changed. Same with iPhones, I actually sync'd one of my secondary lines with that person's gmail account and it performs OTA without using iTunes.

Ok, so I should have said Outlook or exchange. I'm basically talking about the person who doesn't have $300 for MSOffice. Way back with windows CE 2.0 they at least included outlook with it.

I understand, but windows mobile phones didn't require that a person have Microsoft Outlook or Exchange. I'm talking about Exchange on the phone...which you could sync with your email provider. I did it with my gmail account before, but you just had to find the proper instructions (depending on which email provider you used) for setting up as an exchange email address, rather than a "pop". Hope that makes sense. Main thing I'm saying is that, it was definitely possible on Windows Mobile 6.x, just needed to follwo the proper guidelines, which weren't necessarily "straight forward" or "easy."

The Calendar was most important to me, balancing that work/home schedule between work, my kids school and my wife's work schedule. I found a couple third party apps that let me sync a google calendar and a coule times almost got it to sync with a desktop calendar, I got it to work a little but was painfull.
Then there was the web browser, or should I say lack thereof since all it had was this worthless program called internet explorer that wouldn't open most of the web pages out there since people are adhering more to internet standards now and not microsoft's flavor of html :)

That I completely agree!...LOL...Windows Mobile took so much time to set up by comparison with Android.

And the pre-installed browser for Windows Mobile...LOL...that was a joke. I used skyfire (w/ windows mobile) because it showed a mirror image of a full page and was able to play full flash websites. It was also faster. Only issue was that it drained battery like crazy.

But, to get back to the topic at hand, only reason I would've done this challenge is to win the phone and sell it. I'll never trust Microsoft for phones again...LOL.

Windows Phone exec exits five months after being poached from Samsung -- Engadget

I call B.S. I bet he was forced out. When I heard about the challenge, I thought it was an "okay" marketing campaign, but also predicted they'd lose a lot more money than they actually gain from it. There aren't many people I heard about that switch to a Windows Phone after the challenge ended. And the ones that did were just killing time until they could afford an android phone or iphone.

Especially once the contest was on and people were getting word of it, there were so many "limitations" and rules that favored the Windows Phone to win...LOL.

I played with a windows phone while paying my att internet bill. I didn't like it at all.. Maybe it's just because I'm comfortable with the android os or a something. Besides, I like open source. :D
