I've done a lot of reading, and understand that with KitKat, non-native apps cannot write to the SD card, unless one roots ones phone - which I am not going to do. That means I have to use my PC to transfer files. Fine.
What I want to do is plug the phone into the USB port and have the phone displayed (MTP Device) and be able to copy data to and from the emulated SD card (phone storage) to the External SD Card. I don't want to use HTC Sync Manager, so it's not installed on my machine.
After hours of screwing around, I was able to get the phone to show up in File Explorer (PC31C) by changing to developer mode and turning on USB debugging. Then I had to switch USB File Sharing to HTC Sync Manager, instead of "Disk Drive". At first I thought I was done since I can see and access the phone AND the SD card. Alas, I still cannot copy from the emulated SD card to the Ext SD card - it tells me that the external SD is not present - yet, I CAN copy from the phone to my hard drive, and then from the hard drive to the external SD Card.
My friend has windows 7 and didn't have to go through any of this rig-a-ma-roll - just plugged in the phone, there's the MTP device, cut/copy/paste to and fro, no problem.
Has anyone else had this issue? How can I be able to plug in my phone and transfer files directly without having to use my hard drive as an intermediary?
Thanks in advance. Peace.
