ok i can get my galaxy to conect to pc but not via kies
it will only connect via mass storage this ok but what happens when there is an update of the firmware
is there any firmware around thats better than the froyo that mine is on?????

On your phone go menu>settings>wireless and network>USB settings and select kies mode or ask on connection.
Then start kies up, wait until kies has finished loading and then connect your phone.
On your phone it will then give you the option of mass storage, kies and media player.
Select kies and fingers crossed it should now connect.
There is a new version of kies, kies2, it's on the samsung support site.
There is also a kies uninstall program, use it to remove the old version, reboot PC and then install kies2.
Once you have you phone connected to kies it may offer you the update to Froyo 2.2.1, im using this and it's, fast very smooth and no lag at all.
once you have kies and phone working together you can then use odin to flash firmware to your phone, but not until.
