Help Wipe data/Format remotely?

I had an HTC Evo which I had sent to Asurion to get replaced and they sent me back a refurbished one. I had that one for a little while and then the screen stopped working. The rest of the phone seemed to be just fine and I could hear/feel it working but the screen was completely dark. Anyways, since I was due for an upgrade (and acting on impulse) instead of sending it back to Asurion once more to switch it out again, I just decided to ugrade my phone.

At the time I wasn't thinking about trying to sell it for parts, but now, even if I did decide to do so, I would need to try and wipe all the data and reset it to factory settings. I had the lookout mobile app installed but apparently I didn't have it set up correctly because on my account on the website it says it was not activated, so I can't wipe it that way. I was just wondering if there was a way to do it without using the phone itself. I can connect it to a computer if need be if there is a way there. If I am out of luck I understand, but I thought I would ask to make sure. Thanks! :)

So the reason you can't just do a factory reset yourself is that the screen is broken correct?

There aren't any apps you can send to your phone from a computer to completely wipe the phone. That would be a HUGE security issue. They all require you to download and set up the app beforehand

that's correct. I can hear the haptic feedback of the buttons etc. but the display is entirely blacked out so I have no idea how to navigate it.

thank you, unfortunately that's what I assumed but I wanted to make sure.
