Root Wiped my phone trying to install Eclipse ROM, help needed.

Ok so my phone was rooted with Tehroot and 43v3r Root. I wanted to try out a ROM and decided to go with eclipse. I tried to download it but was unsure of how. On my phone it had said it failed when I tried to download it. Anyways I was watching this video: BIONIC Rom Eclipse V1.1.1 Heavily Themed Sleek Sexy Overview and Install - YouTube . I followed the directions at 5:21 and went into CWR and wiped User Data, Wipe Cache, and Wipe Dalvik Cache. I was hoping that the Eclipse ROM was in fact downloaded and just needed to be loaded from CWR as explained in the video, but I could not find the files.

So I rebooted my phone and it's wiped clean like out of the box. Crap. I did have Titanium Backup and Bootstrap on my phone. So I go to Files and then SD Card and I see 5 folders:
clockworkmod - 1 item
data - 1 item
dcim - 1 item
LOST.DIR - 0 items
MotoUAD -1 item

I open clockwork mod and it has a folder 2012-01-28.10.19.56 6 items
inside that is
nandroid folder - 1 item
cache.ext3.tar
data.ext3.tar
nandroid.md5
nandroid.zip
system.ext3.tar

This looks like the backup I had made. How do I run this to restore my phone? When I click on any of them it just says "Unable to open this type of file." I figured I need to re root my phone. I downloaded Bootstrap, but when I click Bootstrap Recovery I get the Success! Message, but when I click Reboot Recovery, nothing happens. I'm assuming this is because my phone isn't rooted. I try and run TehRoot, but here is my stupid problem: I don't have the ability to set the phone to USB Charge only. The drop down option to toggle the USB mode is not there. Where the hell is the path to find this rather than just the drop down option? My phone has no change when I plug and unplug it from USB.

So can someone help me with the process to get my phone back to normal? It looks like there is a backup, but I seem to lack the knowledge to get it running. Any help would be appreciated. This is how I learned to fix shit on my car and it seems this is how I will learn to do stuff on my phone; when something goes wrong haha.

EDIT: Well I found the problem. My gf's cat bumped the USB cable and it was just slightly unplugged from the computer. I pushed it in a fraction of a hair and the USB info appeared in the drop down box. I Rooted and am currently running the recovery as I type this up. I was unable to find the delete button in editing. If I have any issues I will post here. I apologize for the idiocy.

Oops!

So I finally got Eclipse working, after being stuck in a boot loop. I had to hold the power and volume button down to get to a screen that would clear cache. After doing this,it finally worked. Now my problem is I lost all my phone data. Fortunately the original backup I made is still on the phone, problem is I don't know how to load it. Is there a way to load it into Eclipse, or do I need to delete the eclipse zip file and reboot the phone?

How did you back everything up?

Did you make your original backup from Bootstrap recovery? From the name of the backup, it seems so. You should be able to go back to Bootstrap recovery (not stock recovery) and go to backup and restore, restore and choose your 2012-01-28.10.19.56 restore file. Don't worry about the .tar files. They are images that get restored for data, system, cache, etc.

It sounds like you did use bootstrap and CWR to make a system backup, that would be the "2012-01-28.10.19.56" folder you mentioned.
You can use bootstrap again to reboot into CWR and restore your original stock system. You would select 'backup and restore", "restore" and then select that folder and let CWR do its thing.
However, make sure you backup your current eclipse system first so you can switch back to it easily.
As far as getting your data into eclipse, I don't think that is possible. As you noted, one of the steps in installing eclipse is to "wipe user data". That's because eclipse needs to be set up in a specific way to work properly. You could restore your stock system and then try reinstalling eclipse from scratch skipping the wipe user data step but you might end up with an unstable system.

I would suggest this.
Backup your current eclipse system.
Restore your stock system and boot it up.
Use TiBackup to make backup copies of all your programs and data.
Bootstrap back into recovery and restore your eclipse system and boot into it.
You will need to sign into google etc and get the basic system set up. Download TiBackup from the market and use it to restore all of your previous apps and data (if you haven't purchased the full version of Ti do so, it will let you batch restore apps instead of doing them one at a time)
NOTE: Restore user apps only, do not restore previous system apps; system apps show up in red text.
You can also restore things like your sms/mms data, bookmarks data and playlist data.

Once you get everything set up in eclipse the way you like it, bootstrap back into recovery and backup your eclipse system again.

Welcome to the world of custom ROMs. I have gone through the process above many many times. It's a necessary evil when you move from ROM to ROM but tools like CWR and TiBackup make it easier.

Thank you very much for all your help guys! I found the easiest way to get my contacts back was to export to my SD card and then just import again once I was in Eclipse. I'm really enjoying this ROM, I like the layout of it.

I was nervous at first, as I ended up stuck in a bootloop. After searching I found out that it was preferred to download Safe Strap to prevent not getting it of it. But then I found a post in another forums thread for this issue in a Razer. They said to hold the power and volume buttons and thank goodness it worked! I do have insurance so I guess I could always break the phone screen if I was permanently bricked, but I hope it never comes to that.

I would like to look at more ROMS though. There's probably something way better out there. Next I would like to get a battery performance and an overclocking mod. Are these specific to a ROM, or can I download these as apps?

Also this well I'm going to start writing up a piece for absolute beginners like me who want to Root and install ROMS. Some of the language and threads available are just a bit hard to follow for a noob like me. I would like to contribute and hope it cuts down on all the same questions I asked that I'm sure you guys have answered hundreds of times before. Thanks again for all the help.

Also is it possible to have multiple ROMS on my phone lite I do now with the original UI and Eclipse, and just switch between them safely? Not that in would want that permanently, but I'd like to look at more.
