Root wiping data question

after wiping data ( for a new rom ) once im back up and running all my old apps reinstall from the market. is there any way to stop this?

i wanna start out fresh again!

When you activate you have the option of backup/restore thru Google. If you don't check the restore option, I believe that will do what you want. It's in Settings... Privacy. I usually check mine to restore, but not backup, if I'm running a rom.

Make sure you make a backup in recovery, in case you don't like that shiny new rom (or you hose it).
